Having only joined to keep my husband company, I find I really have enjoyed coming and the exercises are keeping me fit and active. If I need any advice I can ask any of the trainers who are very friendly.

I fully retired in September last year, a year in which I had had a full knee replacement. My wife and I decided to invest in joining a gym and, after viewing a number of fitness clubs in the Lichfield area, met Kristian and on first impressions of a friendly place decided to join. Sally was introduced and taking in consideration for my limitations, set a programme that challenged me and kept my interest. Ben has tweaked my programme since and friendly advice has also been invaluable. I have lost weight and my fitness has improved dramatically.

When I joined LGCC I was unfit, overweight and suffering with osteoarthritis and back pain. My mentor compiled a suitable programme for my physical condition and I was let loose in the gym. In a short space of time I was going through my programme 3-5 days a week, often finishing with a 30 minute swim in the club pool. Initially I set myself a target of expending 1000 calories a day from my workout which I soon attained on a regular basis. The more I trained the more my fitness and endurance improved (and my osteoarthritis symptoms disappeared) - noticeably on the treadmill and crosstrainer. 12 months after joining LGCC I completed my first triathlon (sprint). I was given a voucher for being first in my age group! Some time after becoming members my wife Denise suggested I try Body Balance classes as she thought it would help reduce my back pain/discomfort. The classes did help, and continue to keep my back pain free. My introduction to classes opened a whole new world. I soon became addicted to spin, attended classes up to 5 days a week and took the KEISER instructors' course. I now also attend Body Combat, Ultimate Fitness, Fitdrum and Meditation classes. In addition I have taken up golf at LGCC. I mainly play the par 3 course but I have had a hole in 1 on the 2nd hole. I was diagnosed with bowel cancer 18 months into my membership. After treatment I happily returned to LGCC 4 months after surgery. My medical team advised me I was able to return to normality relatively quickly because of my high level of fitness. Since joining LGCC I am now fit and healthy, pain free, and have lost nearly 3 stone in weight. I would like to thank all the staff, instructors and members who make LGCC such a fun place to be.

I started playing golf in January 2011 and was given my first handicap of 23 in the August of the same year. Over the following twelve months, I managed to achieve my first goal and lower my handicap to 18. By August 2013 I had got it down to 13. Along with my regular coaching from resident Golf Professional Ian Jones, I also attended Lee Westwood's golf school from September 2013 to June 2014. I now have a handicap of 5.8. My best round came in the biggest event of the year, Lichfield GCC’s Club Championships, with a gross 74. This gave me a one shot lead going into the second round, but unfortunately I couldn't quite hang on to my lead during the afternoon round. Our coach Ian Jones said "I started coaching Jamie in 2011 and he is great to teach. He listens, questions and practises what we are working on, so the coaching relationship and experience is two dimensional with his input being of equal influence as mine. As an aspiring elite golfer I am sure Jamie, due to his attitude and work ethic, will achieve and exceed his golfing goals."

I had a major operation in July 2012 which meant I took a break from the gym for 4 months. On my return I did very little, struggling with recuperation. All I could do was sit on a spin bike at the back of the room and slowly improve with each session. The weight slowly crept on, and unfortunately I developed shingles in May 2013 which set me back again. In October 2013 I felt I could try and regain my fitness and battle the weight gain. I spoke to Jack who weighed me and gave me support. He is always there with a smile and genuine concern. As of April 2014 I have lost 10 kilos and feel great. I tried Body Balance last week for the first time and I want to try everything! The club is full of genuinely friendly and caring staff and members. Each visit on my road to recovery helped immensely.

I Joined Lichfield GCC as a Gym member in 2011 with the goal of becoming fitter and healthier. Over the years I have been a member of several gyms but none had really worked for me. After hearing positive reviews I decided to give Lichfield a try. I find the club has a relaxing and friendly environment with helpful, welcoming staff. I immediately felt comfortable at the club which in turn improved my motivation to get myself in shape. This has led to a loss of over 9 stone since joining 3 years ago. My waist size has plummeted from almost 48" to 34" during this period. I feel healthier than I have done in years, attending the gym up to 5 days a week. Along with my sessions in the gym and pool I took advantage of the complimentary par 3 golf course. I play regular games with other members which I thoroughly enjoy. This has led me to upgrade my membership to include the 18 hole golf course, playing 2 to 3 times a week.
