October 19 steve slater race to lichfield winner

Some great Club matches to report on this month:

Race To Lichfield

Was won by Steve Slater with 36 Stableford points – congratulations to Steve and everyone else who took part ~ all worthy winners of Club events this year.

Past Captains Day

This much delayed event finally got underway in October and despite slightly lower numbers the competition was as keen as ever.

The Ladies victor was the returning Carol Bradbury who overcame Anne Bowns in a close contest.

The Bowns household did, however, enjoy a victory with Paul overcoming Mike Tighe, Trevor Cooper and John Callaghan with an impressive 39 points.

The post match debate in the club house was as lively as the golf with everything from Donald Trump to the stones on the tee boxes coming under the microscope.

Challenge Cup Match ~ Lichfield men enjoyed a convincing victory 22 – 6 over the Ladies!

56 golfers enjoyed the betterball match play format in pleasant conditions followed by a sociable hour comparing good and bad fortunes on the course.

Seniors Section

The Seniors end of season competition was held on 10th October with 32 entrants and numerous prizes on offer.

Thankfully the weather was kind (a rare occurance at the moment) and everyone had a good day especially those who won one of the many raffle prizes which helped raise £155 for Prostate Cancer UK.

Thank you to Lady Captain Jenny Leech for providing the half way house and organising the raffle money and prizes and thank you to those who made donations.

Colin Williams took the trophy with a winning score of 40 followed by Bob Wood in 2nd and Martin Hall in 3rd.
