The World Handicapping System
The new World Handicapping System (WHS) will come into force on 1st January 2020 but what does it mean to you?
With the current system it can takes weeks for your handicap to change but with the WHS it can change daily. The system does away with buffer zones and CSS and gives a more accurate reflection on your play by calculating your handicap based on the best 8 of your last 20 rounds. Competition and recreational rounds played over 9 or 18 holes will count towards your handicap.
Your playing handicap will be adjusted daily depending on the weather conditions and the difficulty of the course. Anyone trying to cheat the system by returning a No Return can be issued with a penalty score.
England Golf say that the handicap of most players will be within one stroke of their current CONGU handicap.
For more details please see golf noticeboards.
The golf season is now well under way with the Club Championships fast approaching on July 6th, 7th & 12th. Good luck to all entrants.
The Seniors team continues its heavy programme of fixtures winning 1, halving 1 and unfortunately losing 2 matches.
Meanwhile the Scratch team have played N Warwickshire both home and away with victory going with home advantage each time.
Performance of the month however goes to the Ladies and Senior teams who progressed to the finals of The Club Company Inter-Club Championship
Unfortunately the Seniors/Ladies Charity Day on June 12th fell victim to the weather – keep an eye out for the new date. The Captains Day Charity event is planned for 21st July so put the date in your diaries and full details will be on notice boards and website.
The Ladies have certainly had some challenging matches recently against experienced match playing clubs. Unfortunately we lost to Druids Heath, Leek Westwood, Penn & Whittington but we did beat the Chase.
Thank you to all the players and organisers for your tremendous efforts.
Our away day on 3rd June to Morley Hayes was great – check out the montage picture in the changing rooms!
