The Temperature’s Rising – Stay Hydrated
We all know we should stay hydrated when we are in the gym or a class but many of us forget how important it is to keep hydrated throughout the day and with the temperatures on the rise it is even more important. Not hydrating enough can have a significant impact on your health and well being.
The easiest option is to keep a filled water bottle with you, but you can also get water from the food you eat too.
You still need to drink fluids to provide the hydration your body needs but many of the most hydrating foods also contain essential electrolytes and minerals such as magnesium, potassium and sodium as well as vitamins and amino acids.
Summer is the perfect time to explore some of the best foods to help you stay hydrated and feeling and performing well – try some of these:
Watermelon – 92% water
Strawberries, peaches, blueberries, cranberries, blackberries are all over 85% water (and the berries are high in antioxidants too)
Cucumber flesh is 96% water
Celery is 95% water
Cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower are more than 92% water and rich in antioxidants too
Get out and enjoy the warmer weather and stay well
